The ASFP operates a number of technical task groups and committees which undertake the work of the association. This includes drafting the documents that are published on the website and elsewhere; determining policy and activities in a number of areas e.g. marketing; and organising events.
ASFP members are permitted to join as many groups as they wish, with any company representatives able to join any task group appropriate to their interest and expertise. Non-members are usually not permitted to join any group except in extraordinary circumstances e.g. if they have a particular skill or expertise which the association values.
ASFP offers a wide range of technical documentation including Colour books, Advisory notes, Technical Guidance documents, and much more.
The colour books are well-known ASFP publications distinguished by their coloured covers and referenced in the Building Regulations provide definitive guidance on a range of passive fire protection measures used to protect steelwork, ductwork, partitions, penetrations seals and other components in building structures. Advisory notes build off of this information.
The technical guidance documents are codes of practice providing detailed guidance and advice for specifiers, designers and installers on specific applications, configurations or aspects of fire protection products and materials.
The ASFP is a Passive Fire Protection Technical Trade association offering guidance on essential standards in passive fire protection and supporting the activities of the fire industry in relation to all forms of ‘built in’ fire protection. Below are two links, one to our FAQ page which we have titled “ASK the Expert” where you can do just that. This page also offers a couple of already answered questions. The second link will take you to a page full of technical questions and their answers
